Description:
Cloxacillin benzathine intramammary infusion into the dry cow is a product which provides bactericidal activity against gram-positive bacteria. the active agent, cloxacillin benzathine, is a sparingly soluble salt of the semisynthetic penicillin, cloxacillin. cloxacillin is a derivative of 6-aminopenicillanic acid, and therefore is chemically related to other penicillins. it has, however, the antibacterial properties described below, which distinguish it from certain other penicillins.
Indication:
Cloxacillin benzathine intramammary infusion dry cow is recommended for use in cows at drying off, to treat existing intramammary infections and to provide protection against further infections during the dry period. the concomitant use of orbeseal at drying off provides additional protection against the ingress of udder pathogens, contributing to preventing both subclinical infections and clinical mastitis during early lactation.
Dosage And Administration:
For intramammary infusion in dairy cows and heifers
Dry off therapy: after the final milking of a lactation, milk out the udder completely, thoroughly clean and disinfect the teats and introduce the contents of one syringe into each quarter via the teat canal. care should be taken to avoid contamination of the injector nozzle.
The syringe may only be used once. part used syringes must be discarded.
Side Effects:
No known undesirable effects.
Contraindications:
Do not use in cow 42 days before calving.
Do not use in the lactating cows.
Do not use on animals with known hypersensitivity to the active substance.
Withdrawal Time:
For meat: 28 days.
For milk: 96 hours after calving.
