Description:
Iron dextran is used for prophylaxis and treatment of by iron deficiency caused anaemia in piglets and calves. parenteral administration of iron has the advantage that the necessary amount of iron can be administered in one single dosege.
Indications:
Prevention of anaemia by iron deficiency in young piglets and calves and of all its consequences.
Dosage And Administration:
Piglets: intramuscular, one injection of 1 ml of iron dextran on the 3rd day of life. if necessary, on veterinarian’s advice, a second injection of 1 ml may be administered in quickly-growing piglets after the 35th day of life.
calves: subcutaneous, 2-4 ml during the 1st week, if necessary to be repeated at 4 to 6 weeks of age.
Contraindications:
Muscle dystrophia, vitamin e deficiency.
Administration in combination with tetracyclines, because of the interaction of iron with tetracyclines.
Side Effects:
Muscle tissue is coloured temporarily by this preparation.
Ieaking of injection fluid can cause a persistent discoloration of skin.
Withdrawal Time:
None.

Keep out of reach of children.

Store in a cool and dry place protecting from light.
